SCROLL TO EXPLORE

COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX®

COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® is an innovative product that will revolutionise the roofing process.

The secret lies in the layer of anti-condensation fleece that can be found on the underside of each sheet of COLORSTEEL®. It absorbs accumulating moisture, storing it until the roof temperature rises and the water evaporates.

This means there’s no need for roofing underlay or netting, which makes the installation process quicker and easier. And, because it won't become ripped and tatty, the end product will look better for longer when compared with other roofing underlay products.

Within the range there are two unique products. COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® has been created for moderate conditions. Its sister product, COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX®+, has been developed for more severe coastal environments. Both products are CodeMarkTM approved and are suitable for most New Zealand building types.

Features

Features

The COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® system consists of a COLORSTEEL® substrate to which an absorbent fleece has been applied. This layer of fleece is designed to absorb and store condensing water. When the roof temperature rises again, the stored water evaporates.

Both COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® and COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX®+ are CodeMarkTM approved and are suitable for a wide range of structures, including rural, commercial and residential buildings. They have also been approved by the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation’s Sensitive Choice programme as key contributors to drier, healthier homes.

Durability

COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® has been created for moderate conditions. COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX®+ has been developed for more severe coastal environments. See our Warranty & Maintenance section for more information including details on our environmental classifications.

Appearance

COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® products are available in all our existing COLORSTEEL® topcoat colours. The DRIDEX® fleece colour is grey, similar to the Perpetual Grey® backer of standard COLORSTEEL® products.

Fire testing

When tested in accordance with ISO 5660:2002, this range was proven to be in category 1-S. This indicates that COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® and COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX®+ do not contribute to the spreading of fire.

Profiles

COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® products are available in a range of profiles. Please check with your preferred supplier to confirm that the product is available in your desired profile.

Availability

COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® is available from leading COLORSTEEL® roofing distributors. Find a distributor here.

Healthier Homes

Because the COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® system absorbs water into the fleece layer rather than letting water accumulate in specific locations in the roof cavity, the roof cavity stays drier. This leads to the reduction of mould and other pollutants which are associated with asthma, as well as other respiratory tract inflammations and allergies.

Drinking water

Rainwater collected from roofs clad with products made from COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® will comply with the provisions of NZBC G12 3-1, provided the water is not contaminated from other sources.

The first 25mm of rainfall from a newly installed roof must be discarded before drinking water collection starts. Where a paint or paint system is applied to the roof, its suitability for the collection of drinking water must be established.

Faster Installation Process

COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® eliminates the need for roofing underlay, making installation quicker. As a result, a third party study reported a 10% increase in on-site productivity* for roofing installation. *Beacon Pathway study, August 2017.

Durability

Refer to the Warranty & Maintenance section for information on suitable material selection for roofing in your specific environment.

Installation of Product

COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® prepainted steel products must be installed by a COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® accredited roofer to obtain a warranty. Contact info@colorsteel.co.nz or call 0800 100 523 to confirm your roofer is accredited.

Due to the absorbent qualities of the fleece layer on the back of COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX®, it is important that during or soon after installation the installer must heat treat the fleece on the drip edge of the roof. A COLORSTEEL® DRIDEX® accredited installer will have received specific training on how to do this properly.
